Get Involved
Here are some inspirational and creative ideas of how others have decided to support or raise money for the JW House:
- Support JWHouse through eScrip! - eScrip is a type of fundraising where participating business partners contribute a percentage of your qualified purchases to the JW House, at no extra cost to you. To sign up or for more info, go to www.escrip.com and fill in JW House for “Group Name” and 500001322 for “Group ID#”
- Organize a bake sale
- Have a birthday party with “gifts” of donations instead of presents – one young girl, Alison Williams, recently did this and wrote to JW:
“For my birthday I had people make donations to your house. It ended up being great! I hope the checks help. Also, thank you for having such a wonderful auction & sharing your beautiful artwork with us. We love the piece we got. Good luck on The House. We all know you can do it.”
- Donate Christmas gifts - Alex and Andy, two young sons of a Kaiser pediatric nurse, decided to each receive only 1 Christmas gift and donate money that would have been for other gifts to the JW House.
- Set up a lemonade stand - Some children of a Kaiser physician sold lemonade for 10 cents and proudly contributed $15.
- Serve a pasta dinner with tips going to the JW House
- Skip lunch for a day (or bring leftovers) and donate the money you save to the JW House - The boys at Bellarmine High did this and were able to donate $1000!
- Incorporate JW House into a school or club project – one boy is organizing a walk-a-thon as his Eagle Scout project
- Have a pancake breakfast - JW’s friends at American Medical Response hosted a pancake breakfast and raised over $1000! Thanks guys!
- Hand out JW House bracelets at your school or work - Numerous local schools and churches have been selling JW House bracelets and are helping spread the word about JW’s dream house. Here is a list of schools and churches that have been distributing bracelets and collecting donations: St. Mary’s (Gilroy), St. Justin’s (Santa Clara), St. Clare’s (Santa Clara), Joyful Noise (San Jose), Los Gatos Christian (Los Gatos), Valley Christian (San Jose)
, Bellarmine (San Jose), St. Martin’s (San Jose), United Calvary (San Jose), Pioneer High School, Branham High School, Homestead High School, Monte Vista High School, Booksin School, Hillbrook School, Notre Dame High School, and Horizon Program at Cupertino High School. Thank you so much for your support, prayers, and kindness!
- A pee-wee hockey team in southern California has adopted “Never Ever Give Up” as their motto for the season; the players and coaches are all wearing JW House bracelets as a sign of their support for JW. Thanks and good luck during your season!
In whatever form it may come, we appreciate all of your support. If you have more ideas about how to get involved, please feel free to share them with us by e-mail.
